General Description

The STP was commissioned in 1975.

Sewerage Catchment:

  • Turimetta Head (Warriewood) outfall is the discharge point for the Warriewood STP, which services a predominantly residential catchment from Palm Beach in the north to North Narrabeen and Elanora in the south. Terry Hills, parts of Frenchs Forest, Austlink Business Park and McCarrs Creek also drain to Warriewood STP (Sydney Water Corporation 1998b).

Sewage Treatment:

  • Warriewood STP provides coarse screening, grit removal, primary and secondary treatment (using the activated sludge process) for flows up to 39 ML/day, which includes small storms. During larger rainfall events the proportion of flow above 39 ML/day bypasses the secondary treatment process  (MHL769 1997, Sydney Water Corporation 199b).

Outfall:

  • Effluent is discharged on the northern side of Turimetta Head into 3 m water depth.
